1. Introduction & Overview

Welcome to Dumpo ("we", "our", "us", or "the App"). Dumpo is operated by Dumpo Services, having its principal office at 10th Floor, Manjeera Trinity Corporate, JNTU-Hitech City Road, Hyderabad - 500072, Telangana, India.

Dumpo provides an on-demand, digital scrap collection platform connecting households, residential societies, corporate offices, shops, and industrial units ("Citizens" or "Users") with verified scrap collection drivers and recycling vendors ("Pickup Partners"). Our services include doorstep scrap pickup, digital weighing, transparent market-rate scrap calculation, instant digital payouts, and responsible recycling management.

We are committed to maintaining your trust by protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, store, handle, transfer, and safeguard your data when you use our mobile application (Package ID: com.dumpo.in) and website (https://dumpo.in). It is designed to comply with Google Play's Developer Distribution Agreement, Google Play User Data Policy, and applicable Indian data protection laws, including the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information to provide, improve, and secure our doorstep scrap recycling services:

  • Pickup Address & Geographic Details: Complete street address, house/flat/apartment number, building name, landmark, area, city, and postal PIN code.

  • Financial & Payment Payout Details: UPI ID (Virtual Payment Address like GPay, PhonePe, Paytm), bank account holder name, bank account number, and IFSC code for scrap sale payouts or wallet settlements.
  • Partner & Vendor KYC Information (Vendors & Drivers Only): Government identification details (Aadhaar, PAN card, driver’s license, vehicle registration RC, commercial permits) necessary to verify legitimate recycling partner status.

  • Push Notification Tokens: Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) device registration tokens used strictly to deliver essential notifications (such as driver assignment, booking confirmations, and arrival alerts).

3. Device Permissions & Technical Access

To deliver core features, Dumpo requests explicit device permissions on Android. Below is a breakdown of why each permission is required:

Permission Name Purpose & Feature Use Required / Optional
ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION & ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION Auto-detects pickup address, plots customer pickup spot on Google Maps, and dispatches the nearest pickup agent. Required for Pickup Booking
ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION Exclusively for registered Drivers/Pickup Partners to share real-time location and live arrival updates with waiting customers even when the driver app is running in the background. (Never requested for regular Citizens). Required for Drivers only
CAMERA Allows users to take real-time photos of scrap items for price estimation, and allows drivers to snap photos of weighed scrap and digital weight slips. Optional (User-triggered)
System Photo / Document Picker Allows selecting scrap photos or partner documents (Aadhaar, PAN, Vehicle RC) directly via the secure Android System Photo Picker / File Picker without requiring broad storage permissions. Optional (User-triggered)
POST_NOTIFICATIONS Sends transactional push alerts regarding pickup status, driver arrival, payment receipt, and price charts via Firebase. Optional (User-controlled)
INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE Facilitates secure API communication with backend servers, maps rendering, and payment processing. Required

4. Location Data Usage (Foreground & Background Disclosures)

Prominent Disclosure: Location Data Usage

Dumpo accesses your location data to fulfill the primary real-world purpose of the application: physical doorstep scrap pickup and material recycling coordination.

For Customers / Citizens: The app accesses foreground location only when you are actively using the application to pinpoint your pickup address on the map, verify serviceability in your neighborhood, and connect you with nearby scrap collection vehicles. Dumpo does NOT track or access customer location in the background or when the app is closed.

For Registered Pickup Partners / Drivers: When an authorized driver goes on duty and accepts active scrap pickup tasks, Dumpo requests background location permission (ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION). This allows the application to transmit live driver transit coordinates to the citizen customer who scheduled the pickup, compute accurate estimated times of arrival (ETA), optimize recycling vehicle routes, and ensure worker safety, even when the driver is using navigation tools or the phone screen is locked. Drivers may turn off active duty at any time to immediately cease background location tracking.

5. How We Use Your Information

We process your personal information strictly for genuine business purposes and service fulfillment:

  • Service Delivery: To schedule, inspect, weigh, collect, and transport recyclable materials from your doorstep.
  • Live Order Tracking: To display driver location, route guidance, and estimated arrival time.
  • Scrap Value Valuation: To calculate scrap rates based on transparent prevailing market standards and verified weight.
  • Payment & Payout Disbursement: To transfer payment for collected scrap directly to your bank account or UPI ID.
  • Customer Support: To investigate queries, resolve weighing discrepancies, respond to complaints, and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Trust & Safety: To prevent fraud, verify recycling partner identity, and comply with statutory environmental and tax guidelines.
  • Communication: To send SMS, email, or in-app push notifications regarding appointment schedules, receipts, and important platform announcements.

6. Payment and Financial Information

Secure Payments & Payout Policy

When you sell scrap to Dumpo, we disburse funds directly via UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM) or bank account transfer.

For any in-app payments, subscription services, or wallet top-ups, transactions are routed through Razorpay, an RBI-authorized, PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment gateway.

Dumpo never captures, stores, or processes sensitive credit card or debit card numbers, CVV codes, or net banking passwords on its servers. All payment processing complies with Reserve Bank of India (RBI) payment security directives and data localization norms.

7. Third-Party Service Providers and SDKs

Dumpo integrates reliable third-party libraries and SDKs to support essential platform functionalities. These providers process information strictly on our behalf under confidentiality agreements:

  • Google Play Services: Required for standard Android OS services and runtime capabilities. (Google Privacy Policy)
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM by Google LLC): Used for secure delivery of transactional push notifications and app alerts. (Firebase Privacy Policy)

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any external advertising agencies, brokers, or data analytics firms.

8. Data Retention and Storage Security

Dumpo employs multi-layered technical, administrative, and physical safeguards to safeguard personal information:

  • Encryption in Transit: All data exchanged between the Dumpo mobile app, website, and servers is encrypted using standard Transport Layer Security (TLS 1.2 / TLS 1.3 / HTTPS).
  • Access Control: Administrative access to user databases is restricted to authorized personnel under least-privilege principles and multi-factor authentication.
